HISTORY |
|
| |
|
|
| |
The original 'raison d'etre' of the hospital,
this Department has grown today from the small,
4 bed maternity clinic of 1912 to provide comprehensive
services in Reproductive Health, including Assisted
Reproductive Technologies. It grew under the
aegis of Dr. Mrs. Banoo Coyaji, who joined it
in the year 1944, to a full-fledged Obstetric
and Gynecology service. It offers comprehensive
care for women with normal and high-risk pregnancies,
infertility and reproductive endocrine problems,
and gynecologic diseases including cancer. The
Department was the first to offer endoscopic
and oncologic surgery in Pune in 1972. The Obstetric
Unit has been a recognized referral center for
pregnancies with high risk and complications,
from within and around Pune.
